Our first high street shop, a learning curve and a whole heap of fun.

We set off on our high street dream 5 years ago today when we finally (after 6 months of delays due to covid 🙄) opened our first high street shop on Bigg Market in Newcastle. It used to be a bookies and we spent 6 months of covid stripping it out and decorating (with the help of some actual professionals) to try and save money whilst all of our team was on furlough!

The space also doubled as a delivery hub for our Stack At Home kits that took us 3 days to piece together every week and a day to deliver by hand to people all around the North East. We offered it up to all NE post codes without actually realising how big an area that is… we would regularly clock up over a thousand miles between 3 cars on a Friday just to get these daft little boxes of burgers to you!

Here is a collection of the development of the site. When they stripped the bookies out, it left the original George Rye & Sons shop front. That family is still the owner of the building and our landlord and we hope we have done them proud with our shop!

What a journey this is. It has been challenging, rewarding, traumatic, draining & incredibly fun… and we wouldn’t change it for the world! Thanks so much to all of you for helping continue this daft little burger dream we had all those years ago!
